About
The year 2020 was a year of unprecedented changes for the whole world and as well for us as a missional community. The sudden stop of our mission training programs, reduction of mobility, and lockdown constraints led us to a unique time in which God was calling us to connect with Him and to a learning journey of spiritual formation, exploring new ways to bring our faith in Christ into personal and communal application.
As a community we explored the blessing of solitude, the importance of silence, we started to pay more attention to our habits and relationships and to discover the beauty of intentional hospitality.
Much of this transformation was initially uninvited and uncomfortable, but we felt God in it and we are still choosing to walk the journey God began with us as an international missional community in Herrnhut, Germany.
For the summer of 2021, God put in our hearts to welcome others into a journey involving disconnecting from the cares and busyness of life to encounter and commune with God. This will be our very first experience with hosting a Christian retreat and we are so excited about it.
“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” - Jesus

The retreat will be hosted in our watercastle property located just outside Herrnhut. Surrounded by forest and field with lots of open space it serves as the perfect place to disconnect from the normal busyness of our lives and reconnect with both God and our own soul. As a retreat community we will be sharing living space, and most bedrooms will also be shared with other retreat participants.
In coming to a retreat you are joining in with a community as together we seek to encounter God. As a part of community living it is expected that each of us are helping with simple tasks required to make life possible. These include helping with preparing for and cleaning after meals, simple cleaning routines, and light gardening.
